Ultrasound-Assisted Lumbar Puncture Course

Our half-day, FAMUS-approved course combines theory and hands-on practice as part of the FAMUS accreditation pathway for ultrasound-assisted lumbar puncture.

You’ll learn how to use ultrasound to identify lumbar spine landmarks, optimise patient positioning and accurately mark the site for needle insertion, helping to improve procedural success, particularly in patients with challenging anatomy.

Ultrasound allows you to visualise the path from the skin to the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and identify the optimal site and trajectory for lumbar puncture. Once this has been established, however, ultrasound is not used to guide the needle through the tissues.

You can apply for 3 CPD points for this course.
