Advanced Paediatric Point-of-Care Ultrasound Course
This is the UK’s first advanced paediatric PoCUS course that focuses on applications of ultrasound in the acute paediatric setting beyond the basics. By the end of the course, you will be able to apply structured ultrasound assessments and integrate them into clinical decision-making while understanding the limits of point-of-care ultrasound.
This one-day course is designed for clinicians who already have a foundation in paediatric ultrasound and want to develop greater confidence, consistency, and judgement in lung, cardiac, and abdominal scanning.
You can apply for 6 CPD points for this course.

About Our Advanced Paediatric PoCUS Course

Who Is This Course For?
This course is intended for clinicians who:
- Have completed CACTUS or equivalent basic paediatric PoCUS training
- Are already using ultrasound in clinical practice
- Want to deepen their scanning skills and interpretation
- Wish to integrate ultrasound more confidently into acute decision-making
Formal sign-off from basic modules is not required. However, this is not a beginner course.

Why This Course?
Many clinicians complete basic ultrasound training but reach a plateau — comfortable obtaining views, but less confident in structured assessment and interpretation.
This course builds on foundational skills and focuses on:
- Systematic scanning approaches
- Qualitative assessment of function and pathology
- Understanding what measurements are possible and when they are appropriate
- Recognising the limits of paediatric PoCUS
- Using ultrasound findings to guide safe clinical decisions
The emphasis is not simply on “more scanning” — but on better clinical judgement.
Our advanced faculty are available throughout the course to answer your questions and provide expert feedback.

How Is the Course Taught?
Teaching combines:
- Supervised hands-on scanning
- Focused lectures
- Interactive case-based discussions
- Engaging quizzes to reinforce learning
- A dedicated Q&A session to discuss local challenges you may experience, as well as grey areas and real-world dilemmas of PoCUS.
There is a strong emphasis on supervised scanning with expert feedback.
The day concludes with an extended practical session, including the opportunity to scan paediatric models.
