Realistic Simulation

Made from advanced, non-toxic hydrogel, this model closely mimics the visual characteristics of human tissue. It features two nerve bundles with the classic honeycomb appearance seen on ultrasound, embedded within layered structures that replicate muscle and fascia.

This layered construction helps learners practice:

  • Identifying nerve structures in cross-section
  • Navigating fascial planes
  • Perfecting needle approach and in-plane technique

The model is injectable, enabling users to observe the spread of fluid under ultrasound—just as you would during a live nerve block. The dispersion of fluid within the phantom mirrors its behaviour in real tissue.

Care and Storage

This phantom has a high water content, so it’s naturally wet to the touch. It contains a preservative to prevent mould growth.

  • Shelf-life: Approximately 6 months depending on use and storage
  • Storage tips:
    • Long-term: Keep in the freezer if not using for an extended period
    • In use: Store in an air-tight container in the fridge to prevent drying
  • Replace when:
    • Phantom hardens
    • Needle tracks no longer self-heal
    • Bright white lines appear in ultrasound images
