About Our Ultrasound Scanning Sessions
Who Are the Scanning Sessions For?
If You Are:
- Struggling to feel confident enough to use your ultrasound skills clinically
- Struggling to teach your ultrasound skills to junior staff
- Working towards the new RCEM entrustment level 4
- Looking to record scans for your record-keeping
- Just looking to improve your ultrasound skills
Our new, regular half day scanning sessions are just what you need.
What Will You Cover on the Session?
Our 3-hour scanning sessions are designed to facilitate this ongoing learning and help you in continuing to improve your PoCUS skills and build your confidence in using the learned skills clinically and teach junior staff. We will help you work towards the RCEM entrustment level 4, which means you will be able to manage without supervisor involvement.
In the session you will:
- Work on a series of subject areas tailored to your needs
- Practice your skills using various ultrasound machines on a healthy volunteer
- Use a state-of-the-art simulator for pathology and practice using hand-held devices
- Have an experienced faculty member on-hand to assist and guide you
About RCEM PoCUS Ultrasound
The revised RCEM PoCUS syllabus aims to empower trainees to gain, maintain, and progress in PoCUS competencies at a steady rate at a local/regional level. There is no longer need of logging an absolute number of scans, trying to complete triggered assessments, and the need for a one-off sign-off process.
Instead, it is moving more towards a dynamic competency model that increases in complexity with regular education, training, and practice. It encourages every training encounter and other learning opportunities to be used as evidence to progress and maintain competency levels. Additionally, the new process relies much more on well trained, resourced and supported local and regional trainers, and a more personalised and standardised process.
