Why Choose Our Vascular Access Model?
- Lifelike Ultrasound Imaging: Made from advanced non-toxic hydrogel material, the phantom closely replicates the acoustic properties of human tissue, delivering clear, high-contrast ultrasound images of embedded vessels.
- Two Simulated Vessels: Features two embedded tubes with internal diameters ranging from 3 mm to 6 mm, offering practice on vessels of varying calibres. The thickened latex walls simulate the feel and pierceability of real vessel walls, making your training more realistic.
- Practice at Multiple Depths: Vessels are placed at 5 mm depth on one side. For a greater challenge you can flip the phantom over—vessels then lie 15 mm below the surface.
- Self-Healing Design: The hydrogel self-heals after puncture, extending usability and ensuring consistent practice quality.
Care and Storage
This phantom has a high water content, so it’s naturally wet to the touch. It contains a preservative to prevent mould growth.
- Shelf-life: Approximately 6 months depending on use and storage
- Storage tips:
- Long-term: Keep in the freezer if not using for an extended period
- In use: Store in an air-tight container in the fridge to prevent drying
- Water topping: After repeated cannulation, refill vessels with water using a syringe and fine needle under ultrasound guidance. Insert the needle into the latex veins from the open end—avoid the plastic clip end, which seals the liquid in.
- Replace when:
- Phantom hardens
- Needle tracks no longer self-heal
- Bright white lines appear in ultrasound images
