What Doctors Are Saying about Our MRCEM Primary Course

Another fantastic course from Bromley – this is my fourth having previously attended ultrasound and radiology courses. Really thorough, covered lots of important topics. Good to get lots of practice of answering questions. I could see my scores going up throughout the day.
I’m looking forward to future courses!

FAQ

The course covers the areas tested in the MRCEM Primary exam (the RCEM Basic Sciences curriculum), including:

  • anatomy,
  • physiology,
  • pharmacology,
  • microbiology,
  • statistics,
  • pathology.

The course samples across these areas, particularly focusing on areas which have been popular within the MRCEM Primary exam and on those which are difficult to understand. We will look particularly at:

  • Upper limb anatomy as it is affected by trauma
  • Physiology, including endocrine and gastrointestinal physiology
  • Pharmacology, including anaesthetic drugs, drugs affecting the QT interval and important interactions
  • Important infectious organisms
  • Sensitivity, specificity and Evidence-Based Medicine terminology
  • Cellular reactions to injury and important inflammatory mediators, the inflammatory process, hypersensitivity reactions and healing of specific tissues

You will receive two practice papers in advance of the course that should be completed before attending. We will then discuss all these questions over the first few hours of the course.

From there we will move on to two other papers, which will be taken under exam conditions to give you the experience of sitting this kind of exam paper. This is then followed by immediate discussions and clarifications of the answers.

You will also have 6-month’s free access to our MRCEM Primary video webinars, which go into each area of the exam.

While question banks are helpful in the exam preparation, it might be difficult to systematise the gained knowledge. The exam is not just about memorising facts, it’s more about reasoning correctly.

Through undertaking our practice papers and the discussions around them, you will come to understand what the college is looking for and how to choose between options which may appear only subtly different.

You will:

  • understand how questions in the MRCEM Primary exam are designed and the techniques required to answer them
  • be able to determine those areas in which you need to do most revision
  • have been exposed to areas of which you may not have been aware
  • have explored a high proportion of difficult areas within the curriculum
  • have free access to our online video webinars, which go into each area of the MRCEM Primary exam in much more detail

It’s exactly the same course: some people prefer to study in our training centre, while others find it easier to join online. Both options allow you to ask questions live and interact with other candidates and the lecturer. If you prefer face-to-face communication, then the in-person option will probably work better for you. If you are okay with online interaction or are unable to travel to our training centre, then the online option is the best fit for you.

If you choose to attend in person, we will also provide you with lunch and snacks throughout the day.

Yes, after the course we will send you the video recording of all the discussions throughout the day. This way you will have the opportunity to review the course content whenever you need to.

The course is a 1-day intensive live session led by an experienced faculty member. It includes questions reviews, discussions, and detailed feedback.

The online resources consist of pre-recorded MRCEM Primary video webinars and practice questions. These resources can be accessed at any time through our mobile app or website.
