International Emergency Medicine

Emergency Medicine is developing around the world.
There are several reasons for the growth of interest in Emergency Medicine. First there is the realisation that many young lives are cut short by emergencies which could have been dealt with if there were trained staff available. Secondly there is an increasing problem created by specialisation. As specialists become more specialised there are fewer people who can deal with a wide range of acute problems . Finally it is cheaper to employ Emergency Medicine specialists who can deal with the majority of acute problems than to employ staff in all the specialties (Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics, etc) needed to deal with the full range of problems which can present to a hospital.
We would like to play our part in sharing information about Emergency Medicine around the world. Therefore we plan to post links and information on this page.
